The Minority Caucas in Parliament of Ghana has indicated that, they will always boycott parliamentary business and follow the Assin North MP to court whenever his case is called.
The embattled MP is undergoing a trial at the High Court in Accra on charges of forgery and perjury.
The High Court slated July 11, 2023, to give a ruling on the application for a stay of proceedings filed by the lawyers of Gyakye Quayson.
The NDC MPs in a show of solidarity have taken a stance to abstain from Parliament when Gyakye Quayson appears in court for his ongoing criminal case.
This decision aims to protest what the Minority perceives as persistent persecution against Mr Quayson.
“The entire Minority Caucus will accompany our colleague to court anytime any day he is to appear in court, we will not participate in the business of the House anytime our colleague is in court,” an NDC Member of Parliament said.
Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson Minority Leader, also reiterated, their walkout of proceedings when Gyakye Quayson was sworn in after he has won the by-election in Assin North Constituency in the Central Region of Ghana.
